A former South Carolina teacher, Reagan Anderson, has been arrested on charges of sexual battery involving a 17-year-old high school football player, according to local news station WCSC. The 27-year-old married mother-of-two is accused of preying on the student at Holly Hill Academy.
The charges against Anderson, who now faces two counts of sexual battery, were revealed during a bond hearing on Thursday. The alleged victim's mother expressed her outrage at Anderson's actions, stating that the former teacher had abused their trust and violated her oath as an educator. She added that Anderson had "ruined our son's life" and called for the safety of all young athletes in the community.
During the hearing, the judge set Anderson's bond at $2,500 and ordered her to have no contact with the victim or his family. She was released the same day with a GPS monitor to track her movements.
According to an arrest warrant obtained by WCSC, the first incident occurred on October 22 on Bunch Ford Road, while the second incident took place on October 28 in a parking lot outside a Pizza Hut. Additionally, it was reported that Anderson had allegedly sent nude photos to the teen via Snapchat.
Rumors regarding the inappropriate relationship between Anderson and the student began circulating, leading the school to contact the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office on November 8. Holly Hill Academy's Head of School, Brandy Mullennax, sent a letter to parents informing them of the allegations and stating that Anderson no longer works at the school. The school administration is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell confirmed that his office promptly initiated an investigation as soon as they were informed of the allegations. Anderson has not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
As this case unfolds, the community is left grappling with the shocking allegations against a former teacher and coach. The investigation will continue as authorities work to gather evidence and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
