Inverness, Florida - On Thanksgiving Day, a disturbing and gruesome crime scene was discovered by deputies from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office. Responding to a welfare check, they found the lifeless body of 75-year-old Jonathan Dimick Sr. with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in his living room.

Authorities had received a call about a possible murder at a residence located on Poe Street and Eden Drive. When deputies arrived and announced themselves, there was no answer. Concerned for the welfare of the residents, they proceeded to search the home's perimeter.

Inside the residence, deputies found an unresponsive Dimick. Immediate medical attention was provided, and he was then airlifted to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, Dimick succumbed to his injuries hours later.

As the investigation continued, deputies made a shocking and gruesome discovery. The dismembered remains of 67-year-old James Banks were found in the trunk of his own car. The details surrounding Banks' relationship to Dimick and the motive behind the murder remain unknown at this time.

Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast expressed his condolences to Banks' grieving family. Although Dimick will never face prosecution for this heinous crime, the sheriff took some solace in knowing that the community will be spared from any further harm caused by the suspect.

The authorities have not provided any details regarding the timeline of Banks' murder or the connection between the two individuals involved. The investigation is ongoing, as law enforcement officials work diligently to uncover the truth behind this shocking incident.

This tragic Thanksgiving Day event has left the Inverness community in shock. Local residents are urged to come forward with any information that may assist investigators in piecing together the circumstances surrounding the murder and subsequent suicide.
