HOLLY HILL, Fla. - A Florida man was taken into custody by the Holly Hill Police Department after allegedly causing harm to his 2-year-old cousin in a misguided attempt at circumcision. Timothoes Powell, the babysitter at the time, now faces charges of aggravated child abuse.

According to the police report, the incident occurred on October 17 in Daytona Beach, while Powell was watching his young cousin while the child's mother was at work. Although the toddler's grandparents were present in the home, they were asleep when the incident took place.

At approximately 7 p.m., Powell contacted the child's mother, informing her that the boy was bleeding from his groin area due to glass being present in his diaper. Powell claimed that he had attempted to clean the area, unintentionally causing the skin to break.

The injured toddler was immediately taken to a local hospital, where medical professionals found it necessary to glue the skin to repair the injury. Concerned over the nature of the incident, the hospital reported its suspicions of potential abuse at the residence to the authorities.

Surveillance footage from inside the house revealed Powell changing the boy's diaper before walking away with an unknown object in his hand, according to the police. Disturbingly, the video showed the young child crying and screaming before Powell returned to put the diaper back on.

Additional footage obtained from the day showed Powell displaying signs of frustration while manipulating the boy's diaper. The report also mentioned Powell yelling at the toddler, squirting him with a water bottle, and even threatening to use soap to discipline him.

During questioning by the police prior to his arrest, Powell claimed to have noticed the bleeding while changing the child's diaper. He suggested that a piece of glass may have been responsible for the injury. Powell admitted to becoming frustrated and losing his temper during the ordeal.

The investigation is ongoing, as authorities gather more evidence to determine the full extent of the incident and whether Powell's actions were intentional or unintentional. No further details regarding Powell's background or motive have been released.

The 2-year-old victim is now recuperating from the injury, receiving appropriate medical care. Child protective services have been notified and are involved in ensuring the safety and well-being of the toddler.

As this case unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and responsible caregiving in protecting the most vulnerable members of our society. The authorities will continue to investigate this distressing incident to ensure justice is served and the child's welfare is safeguarded.
