In a surprising turn of events, two fishermen stumbled upon an unexploded grenade while magnet fishing in the Union Canal in Linlithgow, Scotland. The fishermen, known for their popular TikTok account @MagnetFishingEdinburgh, made the shocking discovery during a recent fishing excursion.

With almost 500,000 TikTok followers, the duo has gained a significant online following for their magnet fishing adventures. On this particular occasion in early October, the fishermen, identified as Bob and his companion, were initially having little luck at their chosen fishing spot. In search of better fortune, they decided to move further down the bridge, unaware of the extraordinary find that awaited them.

As they began magnet fishing in their new location, Bob and his companion noticed something unusual in the depths of the river. To their astonishment, they pulled out an unexploded grenade. Sensing the potential danger, the quick-thinking fishermen immediately urged nearby pedestrians to take a different path, ensuring their safety in case of any mishap.

Realizing the gravity of their find, the fishermen wasted no time in contacting the authorities. The police promptly dispatched a bomb squad to handle the situation safely. The fisherman recalled an officer informing them that they had potentially saved the town by reporting the device. However, there was also disappointing news for the duo, as the police informed them that their magnet, used for fishing, would be destroyed along with the grenade during a controlled explosion.

A spokesperson for the Scotland police confirmed that the unexploded grenade was successfully removed from the canal and safely detonated in a controlled environment. This ensured the protection of the local community, highlighting the importance of prompt action in dealing with potentially dangerous objects.

While uncommon, this incident is not the first time a grenade has been found during a magnet fishing expedition. In 2019, a man discovered an authentic WWII hand grenade while magnet fishing in Ocklawaha, Florida. However, in a bizarre twist, the man drove to a Taco Bell with the grenade in his trunk before calling 911. The ensuing response from the bomb squad and the proper disposal of the grenade ensured the safety of the surrounding area.

Fox News Digital reached out to the popular TikTok duo @MagnetFishingEdinburgh for additional comments on their remarkable find. The fishermen, who have gained recognition for their magnet fishing adventures across various waterways, are based in Edinburgh, Scotland, but often travel to explore new fishing spots.
