A fire engine was dispatched to the $34 million Nantucket home where President Joe Biden and his family are staying for Thanksgiving. The Nantucket Fire Department responded to a false alarm at the 13-acre compound on Abrams Point at approximately 11:23 pm on Wednesday evening.
According to the Secret Service, there was no fire or incident requiring a fire service response. Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi stated, "There was a false alarm triggered and fire personnel cancelled the call and returned to the station. Fire department did not respond to the Secret Service site."
The Bidens arrived in Nantucket on Tuesday evening and are staying at the waterfront compound owned by David Rubenstein. The 13,000 square foot house is located on Nantucket Harbor and boasts amenities such as a tennis court, swimming pool, hot tub, and private dock.
Members of the Biden family have been spotted enjoying their time on the island. Hunter Biden and daughter Maisy were seen out shopping in downtown Nantucket, where Hunter posed for a photo with some young fans and purchased a pair of slippers at CraftMasters of Nantucket.
Other family members, including Joe and Jill's son Hunter, daughter Ashley, and a majority of their grandchildren, have been seen braving the windy and rainy weather for coffee, smoothies, and shopping sprees. Naomi Biden and her husband Peter Neal were seen making a coffee run after their morning workout, while Ashley Biden took a selfie with her niece Natalie and Peter Neal.
As part of their Thanksgiving schedule, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are set to call the troops before enjoying their meal. The Biden family was also planning to celebrate President Biden's 81st birthday on Wednesday, complete with a coconut cake.
This is not the first time the Bidens have stayed at David Rubenstein's Nantucket compound. The President had previously stayed there in 2014 when he was Vice President.
Overall, despite the false alarm that prompted a response from the Nantucket Fire Department, the Bidens are enjoying their Thanksgiving holiday on the picturesque island, spending time with family and taking advantage of the local shops and activities.
