In a dramatic turn of events, two female suspects believed to be responsible for poisoning and killing 46 Russian soldiers in Crimea are on the run after engaging in a shootout with police, according to local reports. The incident occurred during an attempted arrest by Russian security forces.
The alleged saboteurs had reportedly targeted Russian military personnel by lacing their food and drinks with poison. They were tracked down to a private residence in Yalta, where authorities had gone to apprehend them. However, the suspects, described as "well armed" and "well prepared," opened fire and managed to escape the scene in a vehicle.
Tragically, three officers lost their lives during the exchange of gunfire, while two were wounded, as confirmed by a source in Russia's Federal Security Service.
The initial reports from December indicated that members of a Ukrainian partisan group named Crimean Combat Seagulls were responsible for poisoning and killing 24 Russian soldiers in Simferopol. It was said that two young women had deceivingly offered vodka laced with arsenic and strychnine to the unsuspecting soldiers.
In another incident reported earlier, saboteurs allegedly poisoned 18 Russian personnel in Bakhchisarai by introducing arsenic and rat poison into pies and beer.
As a result of these events, Russian military stationed in Crimea have been advised not to accept any food or beverages from unfamiliar individuals, while also being urged to detain any suspicious young women approaching them.
The acts of sabotage conducted by Ukrainian resistance and partisan groups aim to harass Russian soldiers in Crimea and other occupied territories, as well as provide intelligence for Ukrainian strikes on military installations.
Furthermore, there have been accounts of two mass poisonings of Russian troops in Mariupol in 2023, although no specific details were provided.
The search for the two female suspects continues as authorities work to apprehend them and bring them to justice. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of Russian personnel stationed in Crimea and serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine in the region.
