HALL COUNTY, Ga. - The body of Walter Juarez Guardado, a 37-year-old father of two, has been recovered from Lake Lanier after a tragic accident at East Bank Park off of Buford Dam Road. Gwinnett County Fire and Rescue confirmed that Guardado's body was found in 20 feet of water on Monday afternoon.

According to Guardado's family, the incident occurred on Saturday evening when his jet-ski began to sink while he was on the water. In an attempt to reach shore, Guardado jumped into the lake and started swimming, but he never made it to safety.

The search for Guardado spanned over two days, with crews from Gwinnett County Fire, Hall County Fire, and volunteer drivers from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) assisting in the efforts. Despite the hopes and prayers of over 30 concerned family members and friends, it was a heartbreaking outcome when Guardado's body was discovered.
