In a tragic turn of events, a man was fatally shot during an altercation with police officers in Nashua, New Hampshire on Saturday night. The incident took place at 49 Marie Ave., where officers were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance involving an armed man.

According to Attorney General John M. Formella, the police arrived at the scene at approximately 11:47 p.m., where they encountered the man brandishing a handgun. In their efforts to control the situation, one officer deployed a less-than-lethal projectile, while three other officers discharged their firearms.

After being struck, the man retreated back into the residence. When authorities subsequently found him, he was unresponsive and had sustained gunshot wounds. Tragically, medical professionals declared him dead at the scene.

Fortunately, no police officers were injured during the incident. Authorities have confirmed that all individuals involved in the incident have been identified and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The investigation into the shooting is now underway, led by the Attorney General's office, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies. As more information becomes available, we hope to gain a clearer understanding of the events that led to this unfortunate loss of life.
