PITTSBURGH - The Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating a tragic fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 376 in the early hours of Monday morning. The incident involved three separate vehicles and took place around 1 a.m. at mile marker 78, as confirmed by a press release from Trooper Rocco S. Gagliardi.

According to the authorities, the chain of events began when a car overturned and became disabled in the left lane of the interstate. The driver then exited the vehicle, seeking assistance from two kind-hearted individuals who stopped their car to offer help on the shoulder of the road.

As another car approached the scene, traveling west and negotiating a right curve, the driver attempted to avoid the overturned vehicle. Unfortunately, due to the limited time, the driver was unable to prevent colliding with the overturned car, subsequently striking the guardrail. The westbound car ultimately ended up on the shoulder, where it tragically struck not only the driver of the overturned vehicle but also one of the Good Samaritans who had stopped to render aid. Furthermore, the impacting vehicle also collided with the rear of the Good Samaritans' car.

The driver who was inside the overturned car at the time of the crash was immediately rushed to UMPC Mercy for urgent medical attention. However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, the driver was pronounced deceased.

Currently, the Pennsylvania State Police continue their investigations into the circumstances that led to this devastating crash on Interstate 376. Authorities are working diligently to determine the exact cause of the initial car overturning, as well as the events that unfolded afterward.
