Police officers responded to a reported shooting at an empty three-tower complex in downtown Los Angeles, near Crypto.com Arena and L.A. Live, late Friday night. However, upon investigation, no evidence of a shooting was found. Instead, law enforcement discovered two casings on the second floor and several individuals vandalizing the building with graffiti.

The targeted high-rise, an unfinished skyscraper, has been a subject of criticism, described by some as an eyesore. The situation worsened when vandals spray-painted graffiti across approximately 27 floors of the complex earlier this week.

Councilman Kevin de León, representing the 14th District, which includes the affected buildings, wasted no time in addressing the issue. On Friday, he introduced a motion aimed at initiating the cleaning process and securing the site.

De León stated that he has ordered the developers to comply with the directive, which requires them to remove the graffiti, secure the area, and clear out debris such as scaffolding, K-rails, and gates. Furthermore, his long-term goal is to find a suitable buyer for the buildings.

The unfinished skyscraper, intended to feature upscale condos, a five-star hotel, and a shopping mall, has been on the market for over a year. De León disclosed that the asking price exceeds $1 billion, a price the city cannot afford at this time.

With the plan now underway to clean up the vandalized high-rise, authorities hope that the removal of graffiti and the overall restoration of the building will contribute to the revitalization of the downtown area.
