A Detroit man has been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly interfering with a Spirit Airlines flight from Louisville to Orlando this week. James Finnister, 47, was arrested on January 9th following reports of harassment by crew members during the flight.

According to the FBI, about an hour into the flight, Finnister approached the lead flight attendant and asked if she wanted to join the "mile high club." Shortly after, he allegedly grabbed another flight attendant and made the same proposition, prompting her to break free and report the incident to her flight supervisor.

Finnister's behavior continued to escalate, as he repeatedly asked questions about the cockpit and how to gain access. Crew members were forced to reassign his seat three times due to his disruptive conduct. Matters took a concerning turn when, after the third seat change, Finnister lay down on the floor of the plane, requiring staff assistance to be lifted.

Upon arrival in Orlando, police were waiting to interview both the crew and Finnister regarding the incidents. Finnister reportedly admitted to authorities that he had asked multiple flight attendants about the "mile high club" and had consumed several alcoholic shots prior to the flight to calm his nerves. It was revealed that this was Finnister's first flight.

Finnister now faces charges of interfering with flight crew members and assaulting a flight attendant. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting boundaries and maintaining appropriate conduct while onboard an aircraft. Airlines and law enforcement agencies continue to remain vigilant in ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers and crew members.
