Deputy Shoots Suspect During Drug Investigation in Greenville County

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office, the Department of Homeland Security, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) were involved in a deputy-involved shooting near Carver Street and Old Easley Highway in Greenville, South Carolina.
Sheriff Hobart Lewis revealed that Greenville County's SWAT team had been called in to assist the Department of Homeland Security with a narcotics investigation in the area around 3 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Shortly after arriving on the scene, the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, reportedly armed himself, leading to a confrontation with a Greenville County deputy. As a result of the altercation, the deputy discharged their firearm, although the number of rounds fired has not been determined.
Emergency medical aid was immediately provided to the injured suspect on-site, and they were swiftly transported to a local hospital for further treatment. The current condition of the suspect remains unknown at this time.
