In a startling twist to the ongoing investigation into the Long Island Serial Killer case, a recent deed transfer has raised suspicions about the involvement of a key person connected to the prime suspect, Rex Heuermann. The U.S. Sun has obtained a copy of the deed, which confirms the claims made by John Ray, a prominent attorney representing the families of the victims.

The deed, filed on September 22, reveals that Heuermann signed sole ownership of their dilapidated Massapequa Park home over to his wife, Asa Ellerup, for the sum of $0. This transfer has led Ray to accuse Ellerup and Heuermann of orchestrating a "scam" to defraud creditors, including the families of the victims who may later file lawsuits, all for Ellerup's financial benefit.

The revelation of the deed transfer has deepened suspicions surrounding Ellerup's role in the case. Ray alleges that the transfer is a fraudulent attempt to shield Heuermann's assets from potential lawsuits. He contends that the transfer may be portrayed as a settlement of matrimonial asset issues, but in reality, it is a scheme to defraud creditors.

Ray further claims that Ellerup is not the person many believe her to be and insists that she is not the abused and broken individual she portrays herself as. He points to recent developments, such as Ellerup visiting Heuermann in jail after being given the house, which he sees as attempts to align their stories. However, Ray questions whether their conversations will still be protected by spousal privilege, as divorce proceedings are pending.

The spokesperson for the jail confirmed Heuermann's visit on Wednesday but declined to comment on the visitor's identity. They stated that Heuermann is allowed the same visitation rights as other inmates, including a one-hour visitation period and a search after the visit.

Heuermann has been held without bond for almost four months since his arrest for the murders of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, and Amber Lynn Costello in 2010. Additionally, he remains the prime suspect in the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, with additional charges expected to follow soon.

The Long Island Serial Killer case involves the remains of 11 individuals, known as the Gilgo Four, that were discovered along Gilgo Beach between 2010 and 2011. The victims were petite sex workers who had advertised their services on Craigslist. While police have ruled Shannan Gilbert's death as accidental and unrelated to the Gilgo Four, John Ray has persistently claimed that Gilbert was likely strangled to death by a serial killer.

Ray recently held a press conference, where he presented new sworn witness statements connecting Heuermann to Gilbert and another suspected victim, Karen Vergata. These statements, along with others, provide unsettling details and allege Heuermann's consistent involvement with sex workers at his Massapequa Park home. Ray argues that Ellerup must be investigated given the evidence accumulated.

The ongoing investigation in Suffolk County is now examining possible links between Heuermann and Gilbert and Vergata. Other police departments across the country are also revisiting old cold case files to determine whether Heuermann may be connected to other unsolved murders.

As the Long Island Serial Killer case continues to unfold, the newly discovered deed transfer has added fuel to the suspicion surrounding Asa Ellerup and her potential involvement, deepening the complexity of this long-standing investigation.
