Houston, TX - The Houston Police Department (HPD) has released the identities of the victims involved in a tragic crash that occurred in downtown Houston on Saturday. Among the six individuals who lost their lives were three former University of Houston football players.

The victims have been identified as Izuchu Oragwu, 31, Frank Johnson, 31, Zachary McMillian, 32, Derek Hayden, 33, Christian Herrera, 25, and Lauren Robinson, 32.

According to the initial report, the crash took place at approximately 2 a.m. at the intersection of Pierce Street and Fannin Street. The investigation conducted by HPD revealed that Robinson was operating a black Acura SUV traveling eastbound on Pierce Street. At the same time, a black Chrysler 300, driven by Herrera, was speeding southbound on Fannin Street and disregarded a red light, resulting in a collision with the Acura.

The impact of the crash was so severe that three occupants of the Acura were ejected. Furthermore, the Chrysler veered off the roadway, mounted a sidewalk, and struck Johnson, who was a pedestrian at the time.

Unfortunately, both drivers, Johnson and Oragwu, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Subsequently, McMillian and Hayden succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to an area hospital.

As the investigation progresses, HPD has stated that two other passengers who were in the Acura during the crash have been hospitalized. The 32-year-old man and the 30-year-old woman are both in stable condition, with the woman being classified as critical but stable. Authorities have confirmed that both individuals are conscious and able to communicate.

Presently, there is no indication that anyone else was present in the Chrysler at the time of the incident. HPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The loss of these six lives, including three former University of Houston football players, has left the community mourning. The HPD extends sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims and encourages anyone with further information about the incident to come forward.

As Houston grapples with this devastating tragedy, authorities emphasize the importance of following traffic rules and exercising caution while on the roads to prevent further loss of life.
