In a surprising turn of events, Tucker Carlson, the conservative polemicist and former Fox News host, has reportedly been seen in Moscow, sparking excitement among the pro-Kremlin community. According to a Telegram channel closely associated with Russian law enforcement, Carlson arrived in Moscow from Istanbul three days ago. The news was accompanied by two photographs allegedly showing Carlson at an airport and attending a ballet performance at Moscow's renowned Bolshoi Theater on Sunday.

If confirmed, this would mark Carlson's first visit to Russia. Although there has been no official confirmation of the purpose behind his trip, pro-Kremlin pundits and military bloggers are eagerly speculating that Carlson plans to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Bezgranichny Analitik Telegram channel declared this to be an "epochal event," noting that it would be Putin's first sit-down interview with a Western journalist since the launch of his "special military operation" in Ukraine almost two years ago.

The news has been widely shared by pro-Kremlin bloggers, igniting anticipation that Putin's voice will finally be heard by many in the West. Previously, Putin had to defend himself against various accusations during interviews with American journalists. The RIA state news agency's Telegram channel hinted that Carlson, known for his pro-Russian sympathies, might provide a more favorable platform for Putin.

This potential interview comes after Carlson revealed in September that he had attempted to secure a meeting with Putin but claimed to have been prevented by the U.S. government. In response, Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the Kremlin received numerous interview requests from Western media daily, but found them unhelpful due to what he called "Russophobic propaganda" prevalent in Western society. However, Peskov did not dismiss the possibility of an in-depth interview with a Western journalist in the future, leaving room for speculation whether Carlson might be considered a potential candidate.

Tucker Carlson, once a prime-time host on Fox News, parted ways with the network last April amidst a defamation scandal. In December, he launched his own streaming service and has since conducted interviews with notable figures such as Argentina's Javier Milei and Hungary's Viktor Orbán. Notably, former U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly expressed his consideration of Carlson as a potential running mate.

The purpose and intentions behind Carlson's visit to Moscow remain undisclosed. Whether this journey will lead to a groundbreaking interview with Vladimir Putin or signify another significant development in Carlson's career remains uncertain.
