Colerain High School Teacher Undergoes Major Brain Surgery After Assault by Student: Concerns Raised Over Educator and Student Safety

The incident took place on January 5th at around 2:15 p.m. when school resource officers were notified of an attack in a classroom.
According to the Colerain Township police report, the 16-year-old student had ingested an unknown drug before becoming distraught and assaulting his teacher. He also attacked a classmate before fleeing the room.
Police later found the student in a hallucinating state and with a self-inflicted head injury in the school's career center lobby. He was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment before being released into police custody. The student has been charged with felonious assault and will face disciplinary action from the school district.
The teacher, who has chosen to remain anonymous, was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by EMS personnel. The assault resulted in multiple punches to her head, necessitating brain surgery. Her skull cap was removed to alleviate the swelling and prevent further damage to her brain.
The teacher's loved ones expressed gratitude for the community's support during this difficult time and requested continued prayers for her recovery. It remains uncertain when or if she will be able to return to school.
