Ryan Fournier, the co-founder of the group Students for Trump, was recently arrested in North Carolina and charged with assault offenses. According to court documents obtained by CBS News, Fournier, 27, is facing one count of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of assault on a female.

The alleged incident occurred on November 21, as stated by the Johnston County Sheriff's Office. Fournier allegedly grabbed a woman by her right arm and struck her with a pistol. The gravity of the situation prompted law enforcement officials to make the arrest.

Following his arrest, Fournier was able to post bond and was subsequently released. His next court appearance has been scheduled for December 18. Furthermore, court documents revealed that Fournier waived his right to a court-assigned attorney, indicating his intent to seek legal representation independently.

Ryan Fournier emerged as a prominent figure within the conservative activism sphere after co-founding Students for Trump while he was a freshman at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina back in 2015. Currently, Fournier serves as the chair of the group, overseeing its operations, as well as the executive director of Red Alert, another conservative activist organization.

CBS News has been making attempts to contact Fournier for comment but has yet to receive a response. It remains to be seen how this incident will impact Fournier's role within the political activism community as the legal proceedings continue.

The charges brought against Ryan Fournier reflect a serious allegation of assault. As the court proceedings unfold, more details are likely to emerge surrounding the circumstances leading up to the incident and the potential consequences Fournier may face if found guilty.

Law enforcement authorities continue to investigate the matter, and the outcome of the case will ultimately determine the future of Fournier's involvement in Students for Trump and the wider conservative activism landscape.
