In a shocking incident that unfolded at Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) campus, a child was taken from a residence hall and later pronounced unresponsive upon arrival at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. The child, identified as Jaxton Drew, exhibited signs of significant blunt force trauma, according to a statement from the agency involved.

Following a series of interviews and careful examination of evidence, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested and charged an individual named Poague with aggravated battery, felony murder, and first-degree cruelty to children. The authorities have not disclosed the nature of the relationship between Poague and the child's father, who was reportedly the primary caregiver.

While awaiting the results of the pending autopsy, the GBI built a strong case against Poague, identifying them as the prime suspect in the investigation. The agency's determination to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident has led to the arrest of the individual.

The community has expressed deep shock and condolences over the loss of young Jaxton Drew. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the family during this difficult time.

As the investigation continues, the GBI will work diligently to gather all relevant information and evidence to ensure a fair and just legal process. Further updates regarding this case will be provided as they become available.
