In a shocking turn of events, Smile Direct Club, a dentistry firm that provided teeth alignment services, has abruptly halted all treatment, leaving British customers feeling disgusted and angry. The company, which offered teeth aligners at affordable prices, informed customers that treatment was no longer available after making the "incredibly difficult" decision to close down.

One customer, Paige Louise Lines, expressed her anger and disgust at not receiving any treatment despite making an initial payment. She shared her frustration, saying, "I have always been scared of the dentist, so Smile Direct Club seemed like the perfect solution for me. But it was disgusting how we have all been treated."

Customers were taken by surprise when they discovered that Smile Direct Club had gone bankrupt, as they were not directly informed. Ms. Lines expressed her disappointment, stating, "I didn't even find out they had gone bankrupt until I went to log in to my portal to check the progress of when my aligners would arrive. I was quite angry I never actually heard from them directly."

Smile Direct Club issued a statement on their website, revealing their decision to wind down global operations. The statement informed potential new customers that aligner treatment was no longer available through their telehealth platform. Existing customers were also informed that customer care support was no longer available.

For customers who were promised a "lifetime smile guarantee," Smile Direct Club recommended contacting their local dentist to continue their treatment. The company, founded in 2014, gained popularity due to its competitive prices compared to traditional teeth straightening methods, which involved orthodontists or dentists fitting "train-track" braces or clear aligners after an in-person consultation.

Smile Direct Club provided a convenient alternative, with treatment typically lasting between four to six months and online check-ins with registered dentists. The sudden discontinuation of services has left customers feeling let down and betrayed.

The closure of Smile Direct Club has implications for both the customers and the future of telehealth dentistry services. It highlights the risks associated with relying solely on digital platforms for healthcare needs, emphasizing the importance of receiving personalized and reliable communication.
