In a shocking turn of events, a beloved Christian school art teacher has been arrested in Missouri after being caught on camera allegedly blending a dangerous poison into her husband's smoothie. The arrest came after the husband reported an unexplained illness, suspecting it might have been a deliberate act of poisoning.
According to Jefferson City police Lt. David Williams, the husband installed a camera in their kitchen and recorded his wife, identified as Sarah Elizabeth Scheffer, adding a root-like substance from a bag marked "lily of the valley" to his smoothie. Williams stated that Scheffer admitted to intentionally adding items to her husband's food with the knowledge that it would cause illness or death.
The substance found in the smoothie was identified as "numerous cardiac glycosides," known to slow down the heart and cause irregular heart rhythms, as well as symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. The alarming discovery has left authorities deeply concerned.
Sarah Elizabeth Scheffer, 37, was not only an art teacher but also a respected member of the faculty at Calvary Lutheran High School. Colleagues expressed shock and disbelief over the allegations against her. John Christman, the executive director at the school, spoke highly of Scheffer's dedication to her students and praised her for her ability to foster their artistic skills.
Many who knew Scheffer were taken aback by the accusations. Her father, Marcus Blaskie, expressed disbelief and mentioned that the accusations seemed to come out of the blue, not aligning with the daughter he knew. Blaskie described Scheffer as a well-liked artist and teacher who was actively involved in volunteering for third-world health efforts.
As the investigation continues, the community awaits the forthcoming trial to shed more light on the case. In the meantime, questions remain unanswered about what could have led a beloved teacher to allegedly commit such a heinous act.
