In a tense encounter on West Pratt Street, a Baltimore Police officer discharged their weapon, shooting a 36-year-old man who charged at them with two knives. The incident occurred near the neighborhoods of Ridgely's Delight and Carrollton Ridge on Saturday morning.

According to Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley, officers were on patrol when they came across a naked man walking in the streets. The man then barricaded himself in a nearby business, prompting officers to approach and try to communicate with him. However, their attempts were met with resistance as the man threw an unidentified liquid at them from within the building.

After withdrawing to retrieve protective gear, the officers made a second attempt to enter the establishment. It was during this attempt that the man charged towards them with two knives, leading one of the officers to discharge their weapon and shoot the man. Despite being injured, the man continued to reach for a weapon, but officers managed to subdue him and provide immediate medical attention by applying a tourniquet to his leg.

The injured officer was later treated at Mercy Hospital for a minor wound sustained during the confrontation. The Baltimore Police Department is currently investigating the incident and has implemented its critical incident reporting policy.
