LINCOLN, Neb. - A house fire that occurred on Tuesday night in the Ashley Heights neighborhood of northwest Lincoln is now being investigated as arson, according to Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR). Suspicious burn marks were discovered inside the single-story home, prompting further investigation by LFR's Inspector Brad Hasenjaeger.

The incident took place at approximately 8:15 p.m. when LFR received a report of a fire in the basement of a residence located near NW 44th Street and W Huntington Avenue. Eyewitnesses stated that the occupants of the house were away at the time, and a courageous bystander managed to subdue the flames using a garden hose.

Upon arrival, fire crews encountered heavy smoke emanating from the house and successfully extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
