com, Inc., revealed a major expansion plan for Mississippi with a significant investment of $10 billion. This investment marks the largest capital investment in the state's history, aiming to bolster Mississippi's tech sector and overall economic growth.

In collaboration with the Madison County Economic Development Authority, the project's primary objective is to establish two data center complexes, which are anticipated to create a minimum of 1,000 new jobs. Roger Wehner, AWS's economic development director, expressed optimism about the investment's potential to generate well-paying employment opportunities and drive regional development.

The recent appointment of John Felton as the new CFO of AWS signifies Amazon's dedication to its cloud unit. Felton succeeds Richard Puccio and is expected to oversee the growth and operations of Amazon's cloud services.

This expansion initiative demonstrates Amazon's long-standing commitment to Mississippi, with total investments in the state amounting to $2.3 billion since 2010. The presence of Amazon in Mississippi has already led to the creation of 7,500 direct jobs and supported an additional 9,000 indirect jobs. Moreover, the company has actively assisted over 1,000 independent sellers, contributing to the overall growth of the local economy.

Furthermore, AWS recently unveiled plans to invest around 2.3 trillion yen ($15.5 billion) in Japan from 2023 to 2027 to enhance its data center infrastructure and boost business operations. This investment in Japan exceeds the ₹1.056 trillion ($12.7 billion) earmarked for India, reflecting the company's global expansion strategy.

As of the second quarter of 2023, Amazon's AWS holds a dominating market share of 32%, surpassing Microsoft Corp's Azure with 22% and Alphabet Inc's Google Cloud with 11%.
