In a show of solidarity, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has voiced her support for Texas Governor Greg Abbott amidst their ongoing disagreement with the Biden administration over immigration enforcement. The issue revolves around Texas' assertion of its right to defend itself from what Abbott refers to as record-breaking levels of illegal immigration.

Governor Abbott recently released a statement emphasizing that his state has the authority to protect itself and its borders. Texas has already installed rows of razor wire, with plans to add more, after the Supreme Court gave the green light for Border Patrol agents to cut or remove the sharp metal barrier. The resumption of cutting the razor wire was permitted by the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday.

Abbott's statement questions President Joe Biden's administration for failing to enforce federal immigration laws and accuses them of breaking the "compact" between the federal government and individual states. He believes that Texas is exercising its constitutional right to self-defense due to the administration's negligence in preventing illegal immigration and the actions of criminal cartels.

Governor Ivey, echoing Governor Abbott's sentiment, expressed her support for Texas and its efforts to combat illegal immigration. In a post on the social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, Ivey stated that Texas and other states have consistently stepped up when needed, while the White House has been deliberately absent. She reassured Texas that they could count on Alabama to have their back.

However, the specific measures that Governor Ivey's administration will take to support Governor Abbott remain unclear at this time. Nevertheless, this announcement highlights a growing alliance of southern states standing together on the issue of immigration.

The sentiment of support for Texas extends beyond Alabama, with Louisiana also expressing its solidarity. The exact extent of this support and any coordinated actions among these states remain to be seen.

As the immigration debate continues to unfold in the United States, the stance taken by Governor Ivey and other state leaders reflects the growing tensions and calls for strengthened immigration enforcement at the state level.
