Actress and stuntwoman Carrie Bernans, known for her roles in The Color Purple and Black Panther, has been hospitalized with serious injuries following a hit-and-run incident in New York City. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Monday at the Chirp restaurant in Manhattan, according to her representative.

Bernans, 29, was critically injured when a driver crashed into an outdoor dining area. She suffered multiple broken bones but is currently in stable condition in the hospital, her representative confirmed. Fortunately, her child was not present at the time of the crash.

The hit-and-run incident took place during a police foot chase that originated from a physical assault involving the 44-year-old male driver of a black Mercedes and a 34-year-old female passenger. Police on foot attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the male driver failed to comply with their orders and fled the scene.

The Mercedes proceeded to mount the sidewalk on West 34th Street, striking a food cart and four pedestrians, including Bernans. Two officers and the passenger of the Mercedes were also injured when the driver mounted the curb again and collided with parked vehicles.

Following the incident, the driver was taken into custody by the officers. The injured pedestrians, including Bernans, were transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue. The officers and the passenger are reported to be in stable condition. Investigators are currently looking into the incident.

In a series of photos posted on Instagram, Bernans' mother, Patricia Lee, shared graphic details of her daughter's injuries. One image showed Bernans with a bloody and swollen face, along with chipped and bloody teeth. Another photo depicted her lying in a hospital bed with bruising on her hands.

Lee expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers, noting that Bernans is still in significant pain but is healing. She revealed that Bernans underwent surgery and highlighted her daughter's unwavering belief in a brighter future despite the setback.

As the investigation into the hit-and-run incident continues, Bernans' loved ones are rallying around her during her path to recovery and new beginnings. The actress and stuntwoman remains hopeful and resilient, embodying strength in the face of adversity.

We send our thoughts and best wishes to Carrie Bernans for a speedy recovery and commend the first responders, strangers, family, and friends who have offered their support in the aftermath of this traumatic incident.
