NEW YORK -- Actor Jonathan Majors has been found guilty on two of the four charges against him in his trial for domestic assault allegations on Monday. The verdict was reached after a jury deliberated the evidence presented throughout the trial.
The jury found Majors guilty of third-degree assault, recklessly causing physical injury, and second-degree harassment. However, he was found not guilty of second-degree aggravated harassment and an additional charge of third-degree assault with the intent to cause physical harm.
The judge has scheduled Majors' sentencing for February 6th, and in addition, has issued a new order of protection. This order bars the actor from having any contact with his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. If he violates this order, he could face serious consequences.
The charges brought against Majors stem from an incident on March 25th, where he allegedly assaulted and harassed Jabbari inside an SUV in Manhattan. Prosecutors argued that Majors had been abusive towards Jabbari for several months leading up to the altercation. However, the defense claimed that it was actually Jabbari who provoked the incident that night.
Majors now faces the possibility of serving up to a year in prison for his actions. The verdict has brought attention to the ongoing issue of domestic violence and the need for accountability in such cases. The sentencing will play a crucial role in determining the consequences for Majors' actions and providing justice for the victim.
As Majors awaits his sentencing, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing and confronting domestic violence, as well as the vital role that the justice system plays in holding individuals accountable for their actions.
