San Jose, CA - A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a pregnant woman and her child last week. The San Jose Police Department announced the arrest on Monday, bringing some closure to the tragic incident.

The fatal crash occurred on October 24, on Blossom Hill Road. The pregnant woman, identified as April Marie Zoglauer, 21, was driving her 2008 black Nissan sedan eastbound when a 2013 white Hyundai sedan ran a red light and collided with her vehicle. The white Hyundai, which was later determined to be a stolen vehicle, was occupied by two unknown males who fled the scene on foot immediately after the collision.

Tragically, both the pregnant woman and her unborn child did not survive the crash. The woman was immediately transported to a local hospital but was pronounced deceased upon arrival. The infant, who had sustained injuries, succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced deceased the following day, on October 25.

The San Jose Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit launched an intensive investigation into the incident, quickly identifying the stolen vehicle and uncovering evidence that led them to the teenage suspect. On October 28, Special Operations Officers conducted an arrest in San Jose and subsequently booked the 15-year-old into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall. The suspect now faces various charges related to the hit-and-run crash.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the investigation to come forward and contact Detective Bowen #4461 of the San Jose Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit. They can be reached at 4461@sanjoseca.gov or 408-277-4654.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the devastating consequences it can have on innocent lives. The community mourns the loss of April Marie Zoglauer and her unborn child, and hopes that justice will be served in this case.
