In a recent series of posts on Threads, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg offered additional criticism of Apple Vision Pro, doubling down on his belief that Meta Quest 3 is the superior product. Zuckerberg's comments came in response to a post by Benedict Evans, who suggested that Vision Pro is the device Meta aims to reach in 3-5 years, while Quest is selling at the price Apple hopes to achieve in the same timeframe.

Zuckerberg expressed his bafflement at the claim made by Meta VR engineers that Vision Pro is essentially the same as Quest. He disagreed, emphasizing that Quest is a far superior device. He stated that if Quest becomes comparable to Vision Pro in 3-5 years, it would demonstrate a significant regression on Meta's part.

The Meta CEO acknowledged that Vision Pro boasts a higher resolution than Quest, but he argued that Apple paid for this upgrade with many product tradeoffs, making their device worse in most aspects. According to Zuckerberg, Meta does not aspire to follow in Apple's footsteps of sacrificing ergonomics, motion blur, and precision inputs for resolution.

Moreover, Zuckerberg countered the notion that Quest headsets are solely meant for gaming. He highlighted that three of the top seven Quest applications are social apps, including Horizon, VR Chat, and Rec Room. Additionally, the browser and video player apps are also popular among users. Although fitness apps may not rank as highly, Zuckerberg acknowledged their passionate community. He asserted that the narrative depicting these headsets as exclusively for gaming is outdated.

The future will determine if Zuckerberg's stance on Vision Pro versus Meta Quest stands the test of time. However, his confidence in his beliefs remains unwavering. Zuckerberg continues to emphasize Quest's superiority and reaffirms Meta's commitment to providing a better user experience.

It will be interesting to see how these virtual reality devices evolve over the next few years and whether the Meta Quest 3 sets new standards in the industry as envisioned by Zuckerberg.
