Scroggin, a welterweight newcomer, is stepping in on short notice to replace Nicolas Dalby and face Elizeu Zaleski. However, he weighed in at 174 pounds, three pounds over the welterweight limit for non-title fights, which includes a one-pound allowance.
The short notice of just four days seems to have impacted Scroggin's ability to cut weight effectively. The decision on whether the bout will proceed as a catchweight fight and the terms of any potential penalty, including the percentage of Scroggin's purse to be forfeited, are yet to be determined.
Scroggin was not the only fighter to face challenges at the scales. Bantamweight fighter Melissa Mullins also missed weight, registering at 137 pounds, one pound over the bantamweight limit. The fate of her bout against Klaudia Sygula remains uncertain as officials deliberate on the matter.
In contrast, the welterweight headliners Neil Magny and Carlos Prates had no problems making weight, with Magny registering at 171 pounds and Prates slightly lighter at 170.5 pounds. Magny's consistency continues, as he has made weight in all 34 of his UFC bookings. He holds the record for the most wins in the welterweight division with 22 victories, further solidifying his status in the promotion.
