In a shocking turn of events, two women are facing charges in Ohio after allegedly driving a deceased man to a bank to withdraw money from his account. The incident came to light on March 4 when the authorities were alerted by the Ashtabula County Medical Center about a dead man who had been dropped off by two unidentified women.
According to the police, the women left the medical center without providing any information about the man or themselves. However, a few hours later, one of the women called the medical center and provided some details that helped identify the deceased individual as 80-year-old Douglas Layman.
Upon visiting Layman's residence, officers interviewed Loreen B. Feralo and Karen Casbohm to uncover more about the circumstances surrounding Layman's demise. Investigators revealed that the two women, along with an unnamed accomplice, had discovered Layman dead in their shared home earlier that day.
In a bizarre twist, Feralo and Casbohm allegedly placed Layman's body in the front seat of his vehicle, ensuring that he would be visible to bank staff. They then proceeded to drive to the bank and withdrew an undisclosed amount of money from Layman's account, with the help of their unidentified accomplice.
Both Feralo and Casbohm have now been charged with gross abuse of a corpse and have been arraigned at municipal court. The Ashtabula Police Department is currently reviewing the case, and additional charges might be filed as the investigation progresses.
