**Expanded Cucumber Recall Now Includes More Products Across Multiple States**
Residents across several states are urged to check their refrigerators as the cucumber recall initiated earlier this month has widened. Initially reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on May 20, the recall response has been amplified by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to now cover additional products due to Salmonella contamination.
Fresh Start Produce Sales, Inc. distributed whole fresh cucumbers grown by Florida-based Bedner Growers, Inc. These cucumbers have been linked to a multistate Salmonella outbreak, subsequently leading to recalls by Walmart and Albertsons stores on May 23 for cucumbers and ready-to-eat products containing the affected ingredients. The products were sold between April 29, 2025, and May 19, 2025.
Detailed identification information for the recalled cucumbers and related products is extensive. The recall includes Marketside Fresh Cut Cucumber Slices sold at Walmart stores in Texas from May 13, 2025, to May 20, 2025 (UPC 62969). Additionally, Authentic Greek Salad distributed by Acme, Safeway, Kings Food Markets, and Balducci's in eight states, including Connecticut and New Jersey, with UPC 29307000000-00901 and "best by" dates of May 23, 2025, and May 24, 2025, is affected.
Another major category includes Ready Meals Greek Salad available at Shaw's and Star Markets in various New England states, with UPC 29248300000 and "best by" dates between May 20, 2025, and May 24, 2025. Similar concerns extend to Greek Salad from the same stores, bearing the UPC 29232900000.
Moreover, a slew of pre-packaged salads and vegetable trays are also part of the recall, including a 64-ounce Fruit & Vegetable Tray (UPC 63912394047) and several variations of garden and Cobb salads, among others. PennRose Farms whole cucumbers packaged in 5-pound mesh bags, distributed at Restaurant Depot locations in specific states including New Jersey and Florida, carry the UPC 841214101714 and specified lot numbers.
Additionally, select salad bowls like the 13-ounce Bibimbap Bowl (UPC 63912389259) and the 12-ounce Yaki Noodle Bowl (UPC 63912389254) are implicated, alongside sushi containing cucumbers that were available with various prices and weights.
For specific regions, Ukrop's Homestyle Foods' Marinated Cucumber Salad sold in various containers at multiple grocery chains, including Food Lion Stores in Virginia and North Carolina, and Big Y Foods' sub sandwiches, wraps, and paninis containing sliced cucumbers, are being pulled off the shelves.
With the wide scope of this recall, consumers are strongly advised to check their purchased items against the provided UPC codes and "best by" dates to minimize exposure to contaminated products.
