**Washington Commanders Waive Jamin Davis, Sign Two to Practice Squad**
The Washington Commanders have made a significant roster change by waiving linebacker-turned-defensive end Jamin Davis. The decision comes after Davis, a 2021 first-round draft pick, struggled to make an impact in his new role under head coach Dan Quinn, having only appeared in five games this season.
Davis, who was initially drafted as a linebacker, had compiled respectable stats over his first three seasons, including 269 tackles, seven sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Despite these contributions, the recent transition to defensive end did not yield the expected results, leading to his release.
Davis was notable as the last first-round pick from the 2019-2022 drafts remaining on the Commanders’ roster. His departure marks the end of an era for the team, which has now moved on from all of its first-round selections from those years.
In addition to parting ways with Davis, the Commanders have bolstered their practice squad by signing safety Ben Nikkel and wide receiver Michael Strachan. To accommodate these new signings, safety Sheldrick Redwine was released from the practice squad, rounding out the day's notable roster changes.
