Washington Capitals Acquire Goaltender Logan Thompson from Vegas Golden Knights

The trade was confirmed by president and general manager, Brian MacLellan.
As part of the deal, the Capitals gave up a third-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, originally obtained from the NY Islanders, along with their own third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. Thompson, 27, comes to Washington after a successful season with the Golden Knights.
During the 2023-24 season, Thompson had an impressive record of 25 wins, 14 losses, and 5 overtime losses in 46 games played. He showcased a solid performance in the net with a 2.70 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. In addition, Thompson recorded one shutout, marking a career-high for his single-season accomplishments.

Internationally, Thompson represented Canada at the 2022 World Championships, earning a silver medal. He played in four games and achieved a record of 3 wins and 1 loss, with a 3.00 goals-against average and an .881 save percentage.
