Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is making significant changes to its cable networks, bringing sports content to TruTV and moving the popular franchise Impractical Jokers to TBS. The move aims to enhance the sports offerings across WBD's networks and further engage sports fans.

Starting from Monday, March 11, TruTV will introduce "TNT Sports on TruTV," a weeknight sports block running from 6 p.m. ET through late night. This will include a mix of live sports, original sports programming, and ancillary sports content.

The timing of this expansion aligns with the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship, commonly known as March Madness, which begins the following week. WBD, along with Paramount, holds the rights to broadcast early-round tournament games, and TruTV has often served as a home for these games.

The focus on daily sports programming comes as WBD, Fox, and Disney embark on a joint sports-focused streaming venture, set to launch in the fall. This collaboration will provide subscribers with 14 linear network feeds via the internet, offering a comprehensive sports viewing experience.

TNT, another network under the WBD umbrella, is already known for its NBA coverage, while TBS broadcasts Major League Baseball. As part of the network restructuring, Impractical Jokers, a cornerstone TruTV property since 2011, will move to TBS this summer with a new batch of episodes. During the transition, the series will continue to simulcast on both truTV and TBS until early April.

To maintain a consistent sports offering for fans, TruTV will air series from its library, including past seasons of Impractical Jokers, before 6 p.m. each day.

Luis Silberwasser, Chairman and CEO of TNT Sports, expressed excitement about the opportunity to expand the reach of premium TNT Sports programming through the dedicated primetime block on TruTV. He emphasized the goal of delivering a comprehensive sports experience to fans while generating growth opportunities for WBD's sports division and strategic business and league partners.

The upcoming programming lineup for TruTV will feature alternative presentations of live TNT Sports games, simulcasts of games appearing on both TNT and TBS, and a new 30-minute news and highlights show, TNT Sports Update, airing every night at 6 p.m. Additionally, there will be a weeknight betting show called The Line at 6:30 p.m., NBA-centric show Handles in late night, and a weekly TruTV exclusive House of Highlights show produced in partnership with WBD's digital subsidiary, Bleacher Report.

Moreover, the sports block on TruTV will offer movies, documentaries, and special shows such as The Inside Story, which delves into TNT's Inside the NBA studio show, in-season episodes of The Steam Room vodcast featuring Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley, and special editions of Shaqtin' a Fool. Furthermore, fans can look forward to an upcoming schedule of MotoGP races.

With these exciting changes, WBD aims to provide an enhanced sports viewing experience for fans, while showcasing TruTV's versatility and expanding the reach of its properties.
