Vanessa Williams to Star as Miranda Priestly in London West End Production of The Devil Wears Prada

Vanessa Williams has been announced to portray the iconic role of Miranda Priestly in the upcoming London West End stage adaptation of "The Devil Wears Prada." The musical, based on the hit 2006 film and bestselling 2003 novel, features an original score by Elton John, direction by Jerry Mitchell, lyrics by Shaina Taub, and a book by Kate Wetherhead.

The production will debut at London's Dominion Theatre in October 2024 after a preview engagement in the summer at Theatre Royal Plymouth. Williams expressed her excitement, stating, "Bringing Miranda Priestly to life in the West End is an absolute dream come true. Gird your loins, folks."

The story follows the journey of aspiring journalist Andy who lands a job at the prestigious Runway magazine, working for the formidable editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly. The musical promises a captivating portrayal of Andy's struggles to meet Miranda's high expectations while being immersed in the alluring world of fashion.

The production boasts a stellar creative team, including set design by Tim Hatley, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Bruno Poet, and sound design by Gareth Owen. The casting is led by Jill Green CDG.

"The Devil Wears Prada" is produced by Kevin McCollum, Rocket Entertainment/David Furnish, and Jamie Wilson, in association with Buena Vista Theatrical. The musical originally had a developmental run in Chicago in 2022 before heading to London for its highly anticipated debut.

Fans of the film can expect a fresh take on the beloved story, set to dazzle audiences with its West End premiere in 2024.
