**Massive Protest Erupts in Valencia Over Handling of Deadly Floods**

Tension escalated in Valencia as tens of thousands of residents marched the streets in response to the authorities' handling of catastrophic floods that recently struck the region. The tragic events, which led to the death of over 220 individuals, have left the community in distress and seeking accountability from their leaders.

A significant demonstration unfolded in Valencia on Saturday, with regional authorities estimating around 130,000 participants. Protesters gathered to express their discontent with the Valencian regional government leader Carlos Mazon and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. The demonstrators blamed the officials for the delayed flood alerts and the substantial loss of life, particularly targeting Mazon, who they accused of being responsible for the high death toll due to his late response.

Tempers flared as the protest progressed. Toward the end, a smaller faction of demonstrators clashed with riot police in front of Valencia's city hall. The confrontation prompted police to use batons in an effort to disperse the crowd, signaling the depth of public frustration and despair.

The backdrop of this protest is the deadliest flooding Europe has seen in decades. The floods claimed 212 lives in the Valencia region alone, with the remaining eight fatalities reported in the nearby regions of Castile-La Mancha and Andalusia. Rescue efforts still continue, with nearly 80 people missing and communities striving to recover from the disaster.

The outcry follows days of storm warnings from the national weather service starting on October 25. Many local authorities, including Valencia University and several town halls, had taken precautionary measures ahead of the regional government's delayed alert. This delay has been a focal point of criticism as residents struggle with the aftermath of the unprecedented natural disaster.

The gravity of the incident has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on Spain, reflecting public grievances and the urgent call for improved disaster management by the authorities. As Valencia mourns its losses, the demand for leadership accountability remains at the forefront of the community’s call for justice.
