**Tension on Set: Stunt Double Reveals Strain During "It Ends With Us" Filming**
The atmosphere on the set of "It Ends With Us" was notably tense, according to Justin Baldoni's body double, Thomas Canestraro. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Canestraro described the on-set environment as uncomfortable for everyone involved.
Canestraro, who filled in for Baldoni’s character Ryle Kincaid during intense scenes with Blake Lively’s Lily Bloom, observed signs of underlying friction between the main actors. "You could tell that the set was tense. There was some discomfort from everybody," he stated, suggesting possible tension between Baldoni and Lively.
The filming process, which was supposed to last five days, stretched into two weeks in Weehawken, NJ, leaving Canestraro questioning the delays. "What I did experience was filming that was taking longer than expected," he explained. “Why are we taking so much time to film all of this scene? Why are we not on schedule?”
Canestraro noticed a significant change in Lively's demeanor compared to a previous project they worked on together, the 2018 film “A Simple Favor.” He recalled that during the earlier shoot, Lively was approachable and ensured he was well taken care of, even arranging a bathroom for him after the shoot. However, on the "It Ends With Us" set, she seemed "more closed off."
Adding to the intrigue, Lively's husband Ryan Reynolds was present on set, which initially seemed like a supportive gesture. "Originally, I came on set my first day, Ryan is on set, and I’m like, 'Oh, my God. What a cool thing.' It’s like when I was in 'A Simple Favor.' What a supportive husband who just came on set to cheer his wife," Canestraro noted. But he later speculated whether Reynolds' presence was to support Lively through a challenging time.
Further clarity came when Canestraro read headlines about Lively's sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni in December. "And now I'm like, 'Oh, was Blake already in such a bad place that Ryan just came to make sure that she was OK?'" Canestraro reflected.
Despite the tension, Canestraro described Baldoni, 41, as “extremely friendly,” though they did not stay in touch post-filming. He expressed empathy for Baldoni, acknowledging that the actor was at the center of significant controversy. “He has a wife, he has family, he has friends, and he has people who, right now, some of them believe him, some of them have a question mark over his head, and that must not be a good place to be.”
Maintaining neutrality, Canestraro conveyed his hope that the dispute could be resolved amicably before the 2026 trial. "I hope they can find an agreement. We don’t need that in the industry. At the same time, you can’t discredit anybody’s feelings and anybody’s experience."
The drama extends beyond the set, involving high-profile names like Taylor Swift, who was subpoenaed to testify but later had the subpoena dropped. The legal battle impacts not just the individuals directly involved but also their relationships and friendships, with reports suggesting even Swift has paused her friendship with Lively.
As the industry watches closely, the hope persists that a resolution can be reached, minimizing further disruption and distress for all parties involved.
