**USC Announces Quarterback Change for Upcoming Game Against Nebraska**
USC has decided to make a significant change at the quarterback position as it prepares for its Week 12 game against Nebraska. According to multiple reports, former UNLV quarterback Jayden Maiava will get the starting nod after the Trojans' bye week in Week 11.
Miller Moss, who has been the Trojans' starting quarterback for the first nine games of the season, will be replaced. Moss, who won the team's offseason quarterback competition, has posted 233 completions on 362 pass attempts, amassing 2,555 yards and 18 touchdowns, but he has also thrown nine interceptions. His performance in the recent 26-21 loss to Washington was particularly troubling. In that game, Moss completed 30 out of 50 pass attempts for 293 yards, adding two touchdowns but also three costly interceptions—marking his first three-interception game of the season. This was the sixth game in the last seven where Moss has thrown at least one interception, contrasting sharply with his interception-free performance in USC's first two games of the season.
The Trojans have struggled considerably in recent weeks, losing four of their last five games. Their only win during this stretch came in a 38-21 victory over Wisconsin at the end of September. Notably, all five of USC's losses have been by a single score.
Maiava joins USC after a stint at UNLV, where he led the Rebels to the Mountain West title game last season. During his time at UNLV, Maiava completed 200 out of 318 pass attempts for 2,794 yards and 14 touchdowns, with eight interceptions. He also proved to be a dual threat on the field, rushing for 261 yards and three touchdowns.
Moss served as the backup to Caleb Williams in 2023 and stepped up during the Holiday Bowl when Williams opted out, later becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. In that game, Moss was impressive, throwing for 372 yards and six touchdowns against just one interception, leading USC to a victory over Louisville.
The decision to start Maiava will undoubtedly be scrutinized as the Trojans aim to break out of their recent slump and end the season on a high note against Nebraska.
