**Fantasy Football Week 9: Navigating a Tough Waiver Wire**

This week presents one of the most challenging waiver wires for running backs that fantasy football enthusiasts have seen in recent memory. For Week 9, there isn't a single running back ranked within the top 36 at the position who is rostered in under 65% of leagues. The only potential glimmer was Tyjae Spears, but as of Tuesday morning, his availability is in doubt. For those in dire need of a running back for Week 9, seeking a trade is currently the sole viable option.

One potential trade target is Tony Pollard. Pollard has demonstrated consistent performance, scoring at least 14 PPR Fantasy points in three of his last four games and five out of seven games this season. Despite playing on a struggling offense and the possible return of Spears, Pollard’s current value might allow managers to acquire him at the cost of a mid-RB2. Given his potential to be a top-12 running back for the rest of the season, Pollard offers considerable upside.

Alexander Mattison is another viable option and should be more affordable than Pollard. Recently, Mattison has seen significant volume, registering at least 17 touches in four consecutive games. His recent poor performance against Kansas City, one of the toughest matchups for running backs, may have lowered his trade value. Managers might be able to secure Mattison using a bench player or a minor upgrade in another position.

For those looking for a budget-friendly option, Devin Singletary is worth considering. With Tyrone Tracy in concussion protocol, Singletary is expected to take on a substantial workload in Week 9 as the Giants face the Commanders. The Commanders have struggled against the run, allowing an average of 5.35 yards per carry to running backs, second only to the Giants. Singletary is anticipated to be even more affordable than Mattison, primarily being a one-week rental.

Fantasy football managers should prepare to explore these running back options as Week 9 approaches. Given the thin waiver wire, strategic trades could be the key to navigating this challenging week successfully. Keep an eye on league rosters and target these players to bolster your lineup.
