Two Tornados Confirmed to Have Touched Down in Northeast Wisconsin

Tuesday night's severe weather in northeast Wisconsin resulted in the formation of multiple tornadoes and caused significant damage in several areas. The National Weather Service in Green Bay has confirmed the touchdown of two tornados, one near the village of Edgar and another in the Village of Unity.

The first tornado, classified as an EF-1, touched down northwest of Edgar in Marathon County shortly before 8:00 p.m. Preliminary reports indicate that farm buildings, silos, and trees along the tornado's path were damaged. Experts from the National Weather Service estimate that this tornado generated maximum wind speeds of 90 miles per hour.

In addition to the tornado near Edgar, another tornado affected the Village of Unity in western Marathon County. This tornado, also categorized as an EF-1, reached wind speeds of 105 mph. Survey teams are currently assessing the extent of the damage caused by this second tornado.

Throughout the state, nine tornado warnings and 11 severe thunderstorm warnings were issued as a result of the dangerous weather conditions on Tuesday night. Crews are ongoing with the efforts to survey and assess the damage caused by these storms across various parts of Wisconsin.

As the cleanup and recovery process begins, residents in the affected areas are urged to exercise caution and stay informed about any updates or further warnings issued by local authorities and the National Weather Service. It is essential for everyone to remain vigilant during this time of heightened weather activity.
