In a tragic incident, two men were discovered deceased in a pond after failing to return from a late-night kayaking trip on July 4. The victims have been identified as Gregory Boerman, 37, from Allston, Massachusetts, and Joseph Fritz, 52, from East Providence, Rhode Island.

According to the East Providence Rhode Island Police Department, Boerman and Fritz were reported missing late on Thursday after embarking on a kayaking adventure on Omega Pond, located off Roger Williams Avenue. Following the report, search efforts were initiated to locate the men.

During the search, two empty kayaks were found, raising concerns about the well-being of Boerman and Fritz. In an effort to cover a broader area, search teams utilized a drone to scan the shoreline. Shortly after, the first body was discovered in close proximity to the empty kayaks. A short time later, the second body was also located.

Authorities have stated that the investigation into this incident is ongoing, with detectives as well as the state medical examiner working diligently to ascertain the cause of death. At this point in time, no suspicious circumstances have been identified surrounding the deaths.

This disturbing incident serves as a reminder of the potential hazards associated with water activities, even during seemingly tranquil moments.
