In a recent social media post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump expressed his support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s presidential campaign, stating that it provides "a great service to America" by syphoning votes away from President Joe Biden. However, there are growing concerns that Kennedy's independent candidacy could also impact Trump's chances of winning.

Trump labeled Kennedy as the "most Radical Left Candidate" in the race, emphasizing his support for the Green New Deal and accusing him of promoting "economy killing disasters." The former president suggested that Kennedy would draw votes from Biden, which he considered a positive outcome for America. Furthermore, Trump expressed his admiration for Kennedy's running mate, Nicole Shanahan, describing her as even more liberal than him.

Despite Trump's apparent enthusiasm, it seems he may actually be worried about the possibility of Kennedy taking away votes from his own campaign. Current polling data indicates that Kennedy could attract support from potential voters of both Trump and Biden. The latest RealClear Polling average suggests that in a three-way race, Trump would win with a margin of 5.4 percent, obtaining 40.7 percent of the vote compared to Biden's 35.3 percent and Kennedy's 12.3 percent.

Recognizing the potential impact of Kennedy's candidacy, Democrats launched attacks against him during a Democratic National Committee call with reporters. California congressman Robert Garcia criticized Kennedy as a "tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist" and accused him of being "anti-science" and "anti-truth," specifically referencing his stance on vaccines. Similarly, Pennsylvania Democratic Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis raised concerns about Kennedy potentially splitting Biden's votes, making it easier for Trump to win.

Kennedy has claimed in the past that Trump approached him to be his running mate, implying that Trump sees him as a threat and attempted to neutralize him by bringing him into his camp. This revelation adds weight to the idea that Trump may have concerns about Kennedy's influence on the election outcome.

As the presidential race progresses, the impact of independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. remains uncertain. While Trump portrays Kennedy's campaign as a benefactor to America by diverting votes from Biden, there are indications that Kennedy's candidacy could also draw support from Trump's voter base. With the election on the horizon, the potential effects of Kennedy's run will continue to be a topic of discussion and contention.
