At Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, California, a tragic incident occurred on Friday when a tree fell on bystanders during the school's commencement ceremony, injuring at least 12 people. The tree, located next to the college’s football field, toppled toward the end of the event, causing panic and injuries among attendees.
Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene. Two of the injured were transported to local hospitals for further treatment, and they were reported to be conscious and communicative during transportation. Others received medical attention on-site from first responders and were soon released. Additionally, one individual sought medical care independently, according to Diablo Valley College.

In a formal statement, Diablo Valley College expressed profound regret that such an unfortunate event marred what was supposed to be a celebratory milestone. "The safety of our students, employees and visitors to our campus is our top priority. We deeply regret that this incident occurred during this milestone occasion," the statement said. Despite the incident, the college extended its congratulations to its 2,442 graduates and wished them joyful celebrations with their families and friends.
