In a horrifying incident over the weekend, a man shot and killed his girlfriend and her roommate before turning the gun on himself in a murder-suicide in southwest Miami-Dade. The tragedy unfolded on Saturday morning at a Bird Road apartment building at 7004 Southwest 40th Street.

The Miami-Dade Police have identified the perpetrator as 40-year-old Luis Napoles. His girlfriend, 25-year-old Meghan Moore, and her roommate, 23-year-old Sidney Capolino, who both resided in the apartment, fell victim to Napoles' violent act.

Officials stated that police responded to reports of a shooting, finding Moore outside the building with a gunshot wound. While attempting to provide assistance to Moore, officers heard another gunshot from inside the apartment. They promptly evacuated the building, and the department's Special Response Team was called to the scene.

Upon entering the apartment, the team discovered that Capolino had also been shot, in addition to Napoles, who had a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Tragically, all three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe that Napoles initially shot Moore outside the apartment before entering and fatally shooting Capolino. His final act was taking his own life. The motive behind the devastating incident remains unclear, prompting an ongoing investigation by the authorities.

News of the murder-suicide has left the community in southwest Miami-Dade in shock. "After the first gunshot, I heard a female scream, followed by three or four more gunshots. At that point, I immediately called the police," expressed resident Dennis Pivniak. Another neighbor, Nereida Sujo, stated, "It is very sad, but at my age, I have seen almost everything. It's unfortunate what we are living through."

Meghan and Sidney were well-known on their college campus, and their loss has deeply saddened their friends and loved ones. In a message of condolence, the college expressed their grief and offered support to those affected. Counseling services at the NEC Wellness Center were recommended for anyone in need.

As the investigation into this tragic event continues, the Miami-Dade community mourns the loss of three lives and hopes for answers in the face of such a senseless act of violence.
