**Two Fans Die in Celebrations Following PSG's Champions League Victory**
In the wake of Paris Saint-Germain's monumental win in the Champions League, celebrations across France turned tragic, resulting in the deaths of two fans and leaving a police officer in a coma, according to French authorities.
During street revelries in Dax on Saturday night, a 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed, as reported by the national police service. In Paris, amid the celebrations, a man lost his life when his scooter was struck by a car, the interior minister's office confirmed. Both incidents are currently under investigation.
In northwest France, a police officer suffered severe eye injuries when accidentally hit by fireworks in Coutance and has been placed in an artificial coma, the national police service said.
Despite the overall largely peaceful nature of the nationwide celebrations, punctuated by moments of violence, hundreds of people were detained. By early Sunday morning, a total of 294 arrests had been made, including 30 individuals who broke into a shoe store on the famed Champs-Élysées. Additionally, two cars were set on fire near Parc des Princes.
The night saw joyous and boisterous scenes at the Place de la Bastille, where fans climbed the base of the notable column, engaging in singing, dancing, and setting off flares. Motorbikes roared through the area, and the crowd cheered, adding to the festive atmosphere. Remarkably, there were no police present at that location by 1 a.m., and the atmosphere remained celebratory and devoid of tension.
Ahead of the anticipated post-match actions, security measures were significantly bolstered, deploying a force of 5,400 police officers across the Champs-Élysées, other key areas in Paris, and nearby suburbs. The team's return will be marked by a grand parade on the Champs-Élysées, celebrating their first-ever Champions League title after a decisive 5-0 victory over Internazionale of Milan.
