Spurs entered the season with high aspirations, but an escalating injury crisis derailed their hopes. The pressing question remains whether this could have been mitigated. It's commendable that Postecoglou took responsibility, especially in a landscape where managers often deflect blame. However, it’s equally important to acknowledge that physical conditioning is a critical element of management. Postecoglou's inexperience with elite footballers may have played a role.

Postecoglou’s managerial history includes time at Celtic, a significant club, yet he had primarily worked in leagues significantly lower in ranking. According to one football data company's evaluation, his previous leagues—Japan, Scotland, and Australia—are placed 17th, 33rd, and 60th respectively. Rising to the Premier League through less renowned divisions deserves admiration. However, the question remains: does his approach suit the Premier League's demands? After two seasons, the answer is still ambiguous.

Even with their involvement in the Europa League, Tottenham's 17th place finish was shockingly low, arguably the worst in the Premier League era for a manager who managed the entire season. Postecoglou’s brand of football is often termed 'brave', relying on both technical and positional audacity from his players. Yet, one could argue if managing in this manner truly constitutes bravery, as the results can be shielded by emphasizing entertainment value or long-term planning.

On the European stage, Postecoglou adjusted his principles, opting for a more pragmatic style of football. Victories like the one against Eintracht Frankfurt showcased a resilient, defensively solid Tottenham, reminiscent of Chelsea's 2011-12 battles. The final game against Manchester United, characterized by a lack of midfield creativity, saw Spurs defending well but creating few chances.

Postecoglou remained committed to his long-term vision, stating post-final, "I don't feel like I've completed the job here. We're still building." Yet, the direction of this building remains unclear. Postecoglou’s tenure juxtaposed underwhelming league results with notable success deviating from his usual style. This duality earns him respect, but offers little to argue for his continuation.

Reflecting on his time with Tottenham, Postecoglou’s tenure began with promise and concluded with significant achievement, overshadowing the inconsistent middle part. He has certainly reignited belief within the club, but Spurs were justified in their decision not to see him as a long-term fit.
