A devastating house fire in Middleborough, Massachusetts, has resulted in the tragic death of a girl. The fire broke out at 27 Pearl St. around 2 a.m. on a Saturday, with heavy flames engulfing the first and second floors of the home. Despite firefighters' efforts to contain the blaze and rescue the girl trapped inside, they were unable to reach her due to the intensity of the flames.

Middleborough Fire Chief Owen Thompson and Police Chief Joseph Perkins confirmed that the girl was found deceased inside the home after the fire was extinguished. Additionally, a woman was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with severe burn injuries, while a man and another girl were taken to local hospitals for less severe injuries.

Authorities have not disclosed the names of the victims involved in the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Middleborough firefighters, Middleborough police, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, and the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit from the State Fire Marshal's Office. Although the exact cause is yet to be determined, officials do not suspect foul play at this time.

In response to the tragic event, a spokesperson from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services expressed condolences, stating, "This is clearly a terrible, terrible tragedy and our thoughts are with the family." The community mourns the loss of the young girl and awaits further details as the investigation unfolds.
