A devastating fire broke out at a home in Middleborough, Massachusetts, resulting in the tragic death of an 11-year-old girl on Saturday. The incident occurred at 27 Pearl Street early in the morning, with sources suggesting that the fire may have been sparked by a charging device on the second floor of the house.

The girl's grandmother, who was babysitting her and two sisters, was seriously injured in the fire and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence for treatment. The heroic efforts of firefighters to rescue the girl were hindered by heavy flames, and sadly, the girl was found deceased inside the home.

It is reported that the victim's parents were away on a cruise when the fatal fire occurred and are making arrangements to return to Massachusetts. The girl was a student at Nichols Middle School, and the school community, along with family members who attend Burkland Elementary School and Middleborough High School, are deeply saddened by the tragedy.

Authorities, including Middleborough firefighters, Middleborough police, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, and the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit from the State Fire Marshal's Office, are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Grief counselors were present at Nichols Middle School to provide support, and additional counseling services will be available at any school building that requires assistance. Superintendent Carolyn Lyons expressed condolences to the family and pledged ongoing support during this difficult time.
