**Three Dead and One Injured in Tesla Cybertruck Crash in Northern California**
In a tragic event early Wednesday morning, a Tesla Cybertruck accident in Northern California claimed the lives of three people and left one individual seriously injured. Officials reported the single-vehicle collision occurred around 3:10 a.m. in Piedmont.
Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers suggested that speed likely played a significant role in the accident. The Cybertruck's occupants had been returning from a function when the vehicle crashed and subsequently caught fire. The specifics about the function remain undisclosed.
Remarkably, a person who had also attended the same function but was driving in a different car managed to rescue the surviving victim from the burning Cybertruck. When police arrived, their fire extinguishers were insufficient to put out the flames, but the Piedmont Fire Department swiftly contained the fire.
Piedmont Fire Chief Dave Brannigan noted that the quick response to the fire implies that the Cybertruck's large lithium-ion battery did not ignite, describing the incident as "more along the lines of a typical car fire."
Addressing questions regarding the Tesla Cybertruck's safety history, Chief Bowers pointed out that there was no evidence to suggest mechanical issues were a primary cause of the crash. Despite being on the market for about a year, the Cybertruck has seen six recalls related to various safety concerns. These recalls addressed problems such as an electric inverter fault, rearview camera delays, and windshield wiper failures, among others.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing as authorities seek to fully understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
