In a shocking turn of events, the cause of death for Christine Vinton, a 57-year-old woman from Waxhaw, Virginia, who was found "entangled" in a baggage claim conveyor belt at Chicago's O'Hare Airport, has been revealed. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled her death as a suicide by asphyxiation due to hanging, according to a spokesperson.

Vinton's lifeless body was discovered in Terminal 5 early on Thursday morning, shortly before 8 a.m. Surveillance footage revealed that she had entered the restricted area around 2:30 a.m., five hours before her body was found. Authorities confirmed that Vinton was not an airport employee.

It was determined that Vinton had managed to enter a section of the international terminal that is restricted to employees, although it is considered secure and not a high-security area. This particular area is known for its conveyor belts that transport luggage to and from planes, including those going through customs. Terminal 5 caters to Delta Airlines, as well as various international carriers.

The tragic incident has left investigators searching for answers as to how Vinton gained access to the restricted area and what led her to take her own life. Details surrounding her motives and intentions remain unknown at this time.

It is worth noting that just last month, O'Hare Airport experienced a tumultuous moment when a number of tornado warnings forced the evacuation of air traffic control and ground control. Passengers on a plane recounted their harrowing experience as the aircraft shook violently from the strong winds. Fortunately, no tornadoes made direct contact with the airport.

As authorities continue their investigation into this heartbreaking incident, the airport community and travelers alike are left mourning the loss of a life and grappling with the shocking circumstances surrounding Vinton's death.
